Mitel MiVoice Connect End of Life: The Dangers of Windows Server Exposure

As the Mitel MiVoice Connect system approaches its end of life, your Windows Server-based PBX becomes an increasingly critical security exposure.

  • The MiVoice Connect server cannot be on a Windows Server with a patched date that is greater than the date of the MiVoice Connect release.
  • The latest Windows Server version currently supported by MiVoice Connect is Windows Server 2019; server software that is 5 years old.
  • The latest patch for Windows Server supported by the latest version of MiVoice Connect is 08/23/2024 (Mitel Release: R20.0-HF1)
  • There will be no more MiVoice Connect version releases after 12/31/2025.
  • If you do not adhere to the best practices of Windows Server patches, Mitel can deny support on the system.  In the past, Windows Server patches installed after the supported date have created system instability to the point of a downed system.
  • An unpatched Windows Server is a risk to your entire business. Ransomware only needs one point of entry to then propagate itself throughout your network.  This has happened, and will continue to happen.

It's crucial to recognize that staying on an End of Life system is not a viable option. The security of your MiVoice Connect server should be a top priority. Consider transitioning to a more secure and up-to-date cloud solution to protect your business from these threats.
